Cross Border Traffic

Vehicles hired within Tasmania cannot leave the state, conversely vehicles hired in other states cannot be driven into Tasmania. ICAR , FCAR & FFMR are only permitted to travel into & out of the Northern Territory & Western Australia. Rentals from all States have a kilometer allowance of 10,000 kms between 1-30 days hire, excess kilometer @ 28 cents per excess kilometer travelled). An additional 333kms per day applies for rentals more than 30 days hire.

One Way Rentals Conditions & Drop Fees.

"Rent Here - Leave Here There" service is available between most Budget Locations for pre-booked clients. The criteria noted below applies to the Participating One Way Rental Locations listed in this Proposal. One way rentals from/to non-participating locations not listed, conditions will be quoted upon confirmation. All Drop Fees are to be paid upon collection of the vehicle in Australia.

NT / WA Rates

Due to higher operational costs in the North Western States of Australia, the WA/NT rates applies to all cars & minivan one way rentals that commence or terminate in Western Australia or the Northern Territory

Airport Concession Recovery Fee (ACRF)

Airport concession recovery fees are payable on rentals, COLLECTED at Australian airports. These fees vary from airport to Airport and are indicated on the table below: ACRF are normally paid by the client direct to Budget or Thrifty on rental termination. They can however be included in your Net rate by mutual agreement. (Please refer to Net rate document under the subheadings inclusions/exclusions).

Please note: ACRF are not charged for rentals collecting off airport but returning to an airport location.

Insurance & Budget Driver Protection Package

Vehicle insurance and third party liability, including property cover is included in the rates. An insurance excess based on the vehicle type and the age of the driver applies to all rentals. The insurance cover is subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. While Budget's insurance policy provides customers with protection against a range of events, some exclusions do apply. These include: underbody and overhead roof damage, damaged caused on unsealed roads, unless the renter has obtained prior written consent of the owner.

Budget Driver Protection (BDP)

Budget Driver Protection can be purchased upon collection of the vehicle to reduce the insurance excess to a non-waiverable responsibility (NWR). In addition, the Protection Package covers animal and single vehicle incidents.

General Information

Taxes

The daily rate includes Government Stamp Duty tax (approx 2%). On all optional extras including Budget Driver Protection fee, this tax applies and is payable at time of pick-up.

Multi Hire Rentals.

Customers wishing to rent a vehicle from multiple locations across Australia may receive a Multi-hire rental rate. This provides them with a daily rate based on the total number of days on rental. This bonus is only applicable if the rental from the first location is a minimum of three days & applies between Budget's passenger cars, minivans & Four Wheel Drives.

Free Hotel Delivery

Budget delivers any pre-booked car or minivan to the renter's hotel/motel within a 15km radius of any participating location free of charge. Please note that deliveries must be pre-booked at the time of reservation and clients must pay the bond/deposit by major credit card (not cash) upon delivery of the vehicle. In the unlikely event we cannot honour a delivery we will reimburse the clients taxi fare from their accommodation to our location.

Security/Petrol Bond

A rental bond of AU$250.00 for all vehicle types is to be paid at the commencement of the rental. This amount is reimbursable on the return of the vehicle - if the vehicle is returned with a full fuel tank. The bond must be paid by any International Credit Card. Bond paid by cash in AUD or Travellers Cheques is on application. The charge is posted against the card and adjusted on drop off.

Limitations

Vehicles are not permitted to cross Bass Strait (to & from Tasmania) and to/from Kangaroo Island. Vehicle must stay on sealed roads at all times, the exception to this is, are with the 4WD's which are permitted on recognised tracks & gravel roads. For certain areas permission from BUDGET is needed as changing weather & seasonal conditions may render some roads inaccessible.

Drivers

The minimum age for renting from Budget is 21 years for passenger cars & minivans & 24 years for Four Wheel Drives, no maximum age. All drivers must hold a current, non probationary license (with English translations shown on the license) from their country of residence, or an international drivers permit.

Minimum Rental

Minimum Rental Period is one day, for passenger cars, minibuses & 4WD's, which is a 24 hour period from the time the vehicle is collected. The hourly rate after 24 hours is one-third of the applicable daily rate.

Return of the vehicle

The return of the vehicle prior to the nominated date does not entitle the renter to any refund on the unused portion of the originally agreed rental cost. Please refer to the table below for charges due to a late return.

Refund

No refund is issued in Australia for unused portions of prepaid voucher rentals. Tour Operators will be invoiced for the full value of the voucher irrespective of a late pick up or early return of a vehicle.
