Must-have Perth experiences

1. Cruise the Swan River
Cruise the Swan River past parks and skyscrapers to the beaches and bays of Rottnest Island. Or glide past opulent homes to the lively, historic port of Fremantle. You can take a high-speed ferry to the Perth Zoo or head upstream to the vineyards of the picturesque Swan Valley.

2. Get back to nature in Kings Park
Walk under towering eucalypt canopies and past mirrored lakes, sculpted gardens and picnic areas on the Bushland Nature Trail. Experience the panoramic city views from Kings Park (spring time wildflowers can be seen in King’s Park Sept - Nov.), Swan River and Darling Ranges from a lookout on the Lotterywest Federation Walkway or from the top of the 15 metre high DNA Tower. Explore the rich diversity of Western Australian wildflowers in the Botanic Garden. These 400 hectares of lush landscaped gardens are just a short stroll from Perth’s city centre.

3. Join the festival in Fremantle
Fremantle is Perth's port city, just a short drive or train ride south of the Perth City centre. Wander heritage-listed streets or stroll winding alleys lined with art. Listen to stories of prisoners and murderous mutineers on a torchlight tour of Fremantle Prison, the state’s first jail. Visit the local micro-breweries or imbibe a pint in a historic pub. Or see the infamous 17th century Dutch Batavia shipwreck in the old Shipwreck Museum in Cliff Street.

4. 4WD Pinnacles, Koalas & Sand Boarding Adventure
You will leave the city limits and cross over the Swan River travelling past Burswood Resort Casino. Then head north through the Swan Valley to Caversham Wildlife Park where you will stop to view and photograph koalas and hand feed kangaroos. You will then break at the small fishing settlement of Lancelin before the thrilling experience of 4-wheel driving in our giant 4WD vehicle over massive Lancelin sand dunes and the chance to try sand boarding. Then journey along quiet back roads where kangaroos and emus are often spotted, passing through wildflower country. Travel to the Rock Lobster town of Cervantes for lunch. Afterwards, visit the wildflower shop or alternatively in summer time, weather permitting enjoy a swim, or a walk on the white sandy beaches. You will then continue on to the Nambung National Park, home of the amazing Pinnacles Desert.

5. Explore the Sunset Coast
The Sunset Coast in Perth comprises a long stretch of premier coastline and beach side suburbs, from Cottesloe west of Perth, to Mindarie Keys north west of the Perth city centre. Many of the beaches are just a short drive from the centre of Perth, and this northern coastal area is popular for Perth's safe swimming beaches, walking and cycling paths, as well as beach side cafes.
